As a continuation of my 1st blog in this series. If you are reading this, then I must assume you have chosen to join me down the rabbit hole, and together we will see just how deep it really goes. We may discover that it is so deep, it may not be possible to truly explore the depths of this hole and discover all the truth it has to offer. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try though. Well before I begin touching on the possibilities of lucid dreaming or OBE's (Out of Body's), I would think I would need to touch on reality and the concept of reality. What do we as a society understand by the term reality? In simple terms, the world and the way it functions and everything we perceive right now using our 5 senses. Is reality everything we can see or perceive and thereby understand? If so, what about atoms, the mathematical constant pi or even the number 7. All of which we cannot sense but are very much real. Perhaps reality should be defined then as something that a large group of people can perceive. If a large number of people perceive and report experiencing the same or similar experiences, can these then be attributed to the reality that exists for all? Well this definition doesn't quite work when you get numerous examples of groups of individuals experiencing encounters that the majority of the worlds population does not, and or cannot re-create such as The Hindu milk miracle which was a phenomenon considered by many Hindus as a miracle which occurred on September 21, 1995. A Hindu worshiper at a temple in south New Delhi made an offering of milk to a statue of Lord Ganesha. When a spoonful of milk from the bowl was held up to the trunk of the statue, the liquid was seen to disappear, apparently taken in by the idol. Word of the event spread quickly, and by mid-morning it was found that statues of the entire Hindu pantheon in temples all over North India were taking in milk. A small number of temples outside of India reported the effect continuing for several more days, but no further reports were made after the beginning of October. What about phantom limbs, these experiences may be vividly real but we like to say this is not a part of reality. Another definition indicates that reality is anything that should you stop believing in it, it still remains there even though you do not believe it exists. When I have a nightmare though, as much as I don't believe it is real in some cases I still find myself in the nightmare. Perhaps it is the opposite and reality is what you believe is real and this then becomes real and is perceivable by you? The one fact we know with out a doubt, is that people all over the world have varying ideas and beliefs. Could this mean that whatever you believe, regardless of whether another believes it is real, is in fact real, but real for you? Maybe every single person is right, once you adapt a belief system regarding the structure of the universe, it will reflect that structure to you in your reality. So what you believe, becomes real for you because you believe it? What is clear is that at this stage there is no definitive answer to the question of what reality is, but many ideas or definitions exist on what reality could be. So to say that lucid dreaming or OBE's are not real, would in essence not be a verifiable statement of fact. And perhaps, lets say we adopt the idea that beliefs are real for you if you believe it, then say that for those who believe in Lucid dreaming and OBE's they are real but for them. I would like to stick with the idea that reality is determined by what you as the individual (or observer) believe is real and there is some evidence using Quantum Physics (the study of the very small) to back up this claim. Some new discoveries suggest that our world is a reflection of our beliefs. The discoveries suggest that it is actually consciousness itself that is responsible for the existence of the universe! Perhaps the most revolutionary discovery supporting this idea, is the scientific fact that when we look at the stuff our world is made of — tiny quantum particles such as an electron, for example — the very act of us watching that electron changes the way it behaves in our presence. What’s more, the longer we look, the more it changes! In 1998, scientists at Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science documented this phenomenon showing that “the greater the amount of ‘watching,’ the greater the observer’s influence on what actually takes place.” (Nature, Feb. 26, 1998) Citing such experiments, Princeton University physicist John Wheeler suggests that we not only play a role in the creation of our everyday world, but we play the prime role in what he calls a “participatory universe.” Wheeler states that we can no longer think of ourselves merely as onlookers who have no effect on the world around us, because it is impossible to simply watch. If we are alive and conscious, then we are affecting our world. “The old word ‘observer,’” he says, “simply has to be crossed off the books…and we must put in the new word ‘participator!” The key to Wheeler’s proposition is the word “participatory.” In a participatory universe, you and I are part of the equation. We are both creating the events of our lives, as well as the experiencers of what we create. Reference: Rewriting the Reality Code, The Quantum Power of Living From The Answer Copyright © Gregg Braden What are these experiments telling us about the world we live in? Well, some suggest that our consciousness and ideas about something will affect and or change the reality of that experience to what we as the observer expect. What is consciousness? - The state of being aware, - The fact of awareness by the mind of itself and the world, - Being aware of an external object or something within oneself. So these experiments suggest that our consciousness, our awareness and the thoughts that we have about something infiltrate on a level in which they have an effect on matter in such a way that it moulds and changes it. So in essence our thoughts, emotions and ideas have a powerful effect on reality. To such an extent that they can affect our experience of it. If thoughts or consciousness has an effect on subatomic particles, and these sub atomic particles are what everything is made of, then would it not be fair to say that our thoughts and consciousness have an effect on everything. What are thoughts, that they can be powerful enough to make changes in such a way? What is matter (objects that take up space and have mass) that thoughts can interact with it in such a way that it changes? They are all energy, and everything is made of vibrations of energy. “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” ― Nikola Tesla "All that we are, is a result of all we have thought"- Buddha Can a change in frequency (a different thought or belief) change the form of something on the physical level? Well, lets refer to another test where exactly this is happening, where a change in frequency changes form. See the video below - To view the same happening with a more solid substance such as sand view the video below where essentially the same experiment is conducted. So if we believe that thoughts are vibrations of energy, vibrating on a frequency that can effect form. Can a change in attitude, a changed belief, a changed sustained thought really effect matter? Are there any actual scientific tests or experiments that can prove this on a more macro level, one in which we can all perceive? Well from sub atomic we move up a little to micro-scopic and there are also experiments conducted on water that have proven how thoughts have an effect on water. To get a better understanding of this watch the below video, an excerpt from the documentary "What the bleep do you know". "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." - Dr Wayne Dyer
If everything is energy that vibrates at a certain frequency, and a different frequency creates a unique structure or form. Then it could be possible that on other frequency levels (which we may not yet have perceived) there could be alternate realities. Realities that vibrate on a completely different frequency level. If we think about it, we cannot perceive TV signals, mobile phone or radio signals (all frequencies) without the aid of a machine. The machine is a tool that converts the signal into a frequency that we can then perceive such as through a Television set or a mobile phone. But a television cannot convert a mobile frequency and vice versa. Our brains the machine, and it is able to convert the frequency of this level of reality, but does not have the functionality to convert other frequencies or even detect them for that matter. How many frequency levels are there that we are not aware of, or at this stage incapable of perceiving. The tools have not yet been created to convert these signals of frequencies into a stimuli that we are capable of perceiving. Ok, so I touched on alternate realities and I know what you may be thinking. Seriously, other realities!? Now I'm pushing it to the extreme. But am I, if there are reputable scientists who are supporters of the idea of alternate realities, otherwise also known as multiverses. One of these scientist is the famous physicist Stephen Hawking. I have touched on a number of topics in this blog, from reality, consciousness to frequencies. To ensure I don't loose you to an overload of information, I will leave this blog here and continue the next on alternate realities or multiverses. And continue the exploration into lucid dreaming and OBE's from there.

A little birthday song or two from your friends and family - As an adventurer I take great pleasure in seeing and experiencing new things. In experiencing these new situations I am exposed to varying alternatives, ideas and beliefs which all in some way alter my own ideas or perception of the world, of life or reality. It seems that things are not all set in stone, the way I was told things ARE or SHOULD BE , there appears to be more to the story than I was told. As Morpheus so aptly put it "This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill -- the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill -- you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes". Well I'd like to do just that, and offer you an opportunity to take the red pill and explore and investigate the various theories and ideas on consciousness and reality with me. What I believe to be the next landscape of human exploration. First though I would like to touch on some points to consider before diving straight into the topic at hand, all connected points may I add. As a youngster I was told about the people who lived across the ocean, who lived in far off lands and was shown how they looked and what they believed. I thought I knew and understood them, until of course I lived with them, amongst them and experienced their culture their beliefs and way of life. Living in Thailand not just in another English speaking country with similar culture, and ideals but a country where the culture, beliefs and overall way of life is so very different. Was certainly what one would term "a Culture Shock" as I was exposed to a completely different perspective on so many things. This experience lead me to my first realisation, a realisation on perspective. My point of view was determined by my conditioned beliefs and ideas. Yes yes, I know what you are saying, I know this, everybody knows this. But I challenge you that to know something and to experience something are two very different things. While I knew this too, I never truly understood it, until I was submerged in a completely different point of view. Where I was overwhelmed by a sea of people who lived so differently to how I did that at first it was completely baffling. My second reaction was "How can people live like this?". In the image on the right, is the man actually larger than the woman? No, we know this trick (But should you not, feel free to enlighten yourself - Click here or here). But from this point of view or perspective he certainly appears to be. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that we are always told how things are, but we never choose to question it. We assume everything we are told and taught is correct and true for all. What if you were taught that the man in the image was in fact larger than the woman, unless you were fortunate enough to actually be there and realise that was not the case. You would believe it, and your whole perspective would cement on this idea and belief. Or what if you weren't told anything at all, and you had only your current view to make a determination on what you were seeing. In order to truly expand your understanding or your perspective you need to be willing to question everything you have been told or taught. In order to be an explorer for effective growth you need to be an open minded skeptic. Open minded enough to listen to any and all theories and concepts without making a judgement on the matter until the next step, Then be skeptical enough to research or test the idea (through experience), and see how it feels or works for you. For interest sake, what is wisdom? Wisdom is knowledge obtained through experience. By exploring, you challenge yourself to experience change, change that we as human beings so very much deplore. But something that is a guaranteed constant in everyone's life. Whether it is loosing a job, an unplanned pregnancy, an economic crisis, a tornado ripping through your house or the death of a loved one. An alternative point of view to your own, that challenges your deeply set beliefs which effects and changes your emotional state. The possible examples of change are countless. If there is one guarantee in life, it's that things are going to change . The more we cling on to wanting things to stay the same the more we suffer. The Dalai Lama put it best, when he said - "Suffering is resistance to change". So explore, challenge your unflinching point of view, challenge your fixed desire for consistency and become more fluid and flowing. Become like water, not resisting what is, but flowing around it and not allowing it to stunt its forward progress. In the proceeding blog I will touch on the idea of lucid dreaming and out of body exploration. I hope to investigate the ideas and discuss them as an explorer attempting to discover the benefits or results of the practices for myself. If this is a new concept for you I hope to fully detail the practice, it's effects and potential benefits. If this is an idea that you are totally against, then I ask only that you be the open minded skeptic and consider what I will discuss and test it to see how it works for you. And if this should be a topic you are familiar with, I encourage you to read on and hopefully find some new gems of inspiration. So challenge your perceptions or point of view, and welcome change as the precursor to evolution and growth. Remember the one guaranteed resistance to any growth is fear. Fear of change, fear of uncertainty or fear of loss, the list goes on. All negative experiences can be narrowed down to fear, and the choices we make in relation to our submission to the fear we feel. Replace any feelings of fear with a desire to learn, to explore and to grow. A love for truth, discovery and eventual peace of mind and soul. In the next blog I will begin my investigation into the ideas of lucid dreaming and out of body exploration. Watch this space. So a question I have pondered for a while now, especially as a fan of archaeology. Is - How old is the civilised human race? At present the theory stands at between 12 000 years old to 5,000 years old. It is estimated that civilised human development and behaviour began around 10,000 BC to 3,000 BC. Well I have pondered this question because as an avid follower of the latest archaeological news (I know GEEK). I have always found genuine reports of findings or discoveries that push the date of the existence of Humans or at the least the existence of civilised settlements back, past those dates currently accepted. And these unusual reports are awfully fascinating and few and far between, but baffling due to the limited exposure given in the mainstream media. I occasionally visit a site, that lists all the latest finds as published by reputable news agents: See here for yourself if you wish - http://www.archaeologica.org/NewsPage.htm And every so often, comes a report or finding as mentioned above that questions or reveals a possible alternative to our current theory, and again proves how little we know for sure. Below are a few examples of the ever growing evidence. Because remember our current estimated period of beginnings as relatively civilised human beings is still just a theory, not undeniable fact.
In the below link, scientists may have discovered evidence to suggest that the DNA of a 24,000 year old skeleton appears to indicate that one-third of his/her ancestry can be traced back to Europe, while nearly 30 percent of modern Native Americans’ ancestry also came from the skeletons gene pool. “Though our results cannot speak directly to this debate, they do indicate Native American ancestors could have been in Beringia — extreme north eastern Russia and Alaska — any time after 24,000 years ago and therefore could have colonized Alaska and the Americas much earlier than 14,500 years ago, the age suggested by the archaeological record. Another example of evidence that could turn the archaeological world on its head, and push back our current theories and ideas of how old we actually are. Now, when I saw the video shown below. I must say I was intrigued and very much interested due to my already growing suspicions. The video details the press tour and then ideas of research theories presented by a Michael Cremo, an archaeologist member of numerous well respected archaeological organisations and societies. In presenting his book - Where he details and looks at the possibility that there were previous advanced human civilisations on earth. With countless references to discoveries over the last 150 years to back up his claims. And how the Scientific community has covered up, or suppressed the theories identified by numerous scientists, including Cremo. Unfortunately, instead of acknowledging the amazing find for what it is, scientists have tried to fit it into pre-conceived notions of human evolution. Watch the video below, and consider the possibility. I for one cannot without a doubt say we know exactly how old we really are, and I know that modern day archaeologists also cannot, there theories are just that, theories. Have an open mind, but don't accept it as fact either. The video certainly raises many interesting questions, and I am one who considers being an open minded sceptic more beneficial than an only hardened sceptic or believer. If this above video and evidence was the only report or evidence of such a claim, then perhaps I would be less inclined to believe it. But it is not the only claim, there appear to be many more and as with the above, from credible and reliable sources. Below are a few more links to numerous other specialists, archaeologists or findings showing other discoveries (that you may or may not be aware of). These individuals in many cases have tried unsuccessfully to raise awareness of the possibility of our species being older than we think, or there being older civilisations than we are currently aware of, based on discoveries and findings. At this stage the general consensus remains the same, - "Don't Rock the Boat!"
These are just a few of the countless articles, discoveries and or alternative theories that all suggest the same thing. We still know very little about our past, and where we actually come from. Don't take the general theories on our ancient history as fact, because as it stands it certainly doesn't look to be very clear cut at all. In the end the choice is left up to you, choose to blindly believe every little bit of history spouted to us, or Question Everything. Take a moment to look up alternatives to "established theory", and to remember in virtually all of the cases they are just that - Theories. Another one of our very first music video parody's (if you can even call it that). Original Music video, we parodied. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkxj5xVLyj0 Ok, so I received the following link or message in a number of various ways today. http://www.social-consciousness.com/2013/09/12-little-known-laws-of-karma-that-will-change-your-life.html First, my girlfriend shared it with me and asked me to read it because she thought it was a good post, then I also saw it on the side of a random website I visited while surfing the web. Then out of the blue, later in the evening I checked my mail and received an e-mail from a friend who rarely if ever communicates with me via e-mail. And low and behold it was an e-mail sharing exactly the same message as can be seen in the link above. Co-incidence? Or divine intervention? Synchronicity? The universe, God, my guides or angels - whatever you wish to name it - trying to get a message to me and making it pretty clear by ensuring I see the message via a number of avenues? Now normally I would think nothing of this, but of late I have been trying to be more aware of synchronicity (a term coined by Carl Jung) or synchronistic moments. What is synchronicity? The term synchronicity is coined by Jung to express a concept that belongs to him. It is about acausal connection of two or more psycho-physic phenomena. Which basically means, the possible connection between an incident where a psychological, emotional feeling or realisation is reemphasised in a physical experience or manifestation of some kind. This concept was inspired by a patient. Her exaggerate rationalism (animus inflation) was holding her back from assimilating unconscious materials. One night, the patient dreamt a golden scarab - cetonia aurata (gold green beetle) . The next day, during the psychotherapy session, a real insect this time, hit against the Jung's cabinet window. Jung caught it and discovered surprisingly that it was a golden scarab; a very rare presence for that climate. So, the idea is all about coincidence: in this case, between the scarab dreamt by the patient and its appearance in reality, in the psychotherapy cabinet. - from carl-jung.net Essentially, Jung believed that many experiences that we label as coincidence due to chance in terms of causality, suggested the manifestation of parallel events or circumstances in terms of meaning, reflecting this governing dynamic. He believed there was some meaning between both events, and that they were not merely co-incidence. Is it just a coincidence, what happened to me? Or is there a presence of some kind trying to help us along, feed us clues to where we need to or want to truly be, or at least where we need to be moving towards. I think that Mr Jung was onto something, and I think there may have been some message in the repeated revelation of the message both mailed and messaged to me. I have been asking what I need to do of late, was my question answered? So what was the message? Essentially about Karma, and the numerous karmic laws, a description of what it is and how one can make use of the understanding of it to make positive changes in ones life. Basically - Karma - you get what you give. You give out hatred, violence and negativity, well then you are sure to get that back in return. If I think about it, this simple "law" if you will, is spread or at least mentioned in one way or another in all religious texts. Catholicism - "you sow what you reap", or " do unto others, as you would have them do unto you". Karma is also obviously part of the many eastern religions - Karma is part of Hindu, Jain, Buddhist and Sikh philosophies. Gandhi put it best for me - "Be what you want to see in the world". Without me having to run through each of the laws and discuss them. My intention for writing this blog, I guess was to make mention of the synchronicity I experienced, of the need to see and read, and more importantly perhaps apply the ideals within the message into my life. And having read the entire article, and being wholeheartedly committed to the ideals stated within, I guess the message is clear. I have NOT been as mindful of these "laws". I prefer to call them ideals, I need to be more mindful of these ideals, and practice them everyday in every moment. On a final note, when I arrived back home after having completed this blog, I found the following bug lying in front of my home. Coincidence? Synchronicity? You decide? I know what I think..... What a fascinating TED talk, have a look and then see my comments below. What a fascinating talk by Rupert Sheldrake, on how he perceives Science to be quite delusional when you break down the essential Dogma of Science. Having watched the entire TED talk, by Mr Sheldrake, I must say that he certainly raises a lot of very interesting questions.
The reason I say "he perceives", obviously because I want to make it clear that they are his theories, ideas and perceptions. To say they are the truth, would be as idiotic as to as that Science is truth. But I must say, that alot of what he talks about and discusses rings truthfully "for me", and certainly resonates with me. Is something i would like to delve into further, and explore more. Leading me to my next questions, Rupert Sheldrake suggests that perhaps everything is evolving and changing, even the speed of light, or gravity. Why not? Do the answers to everything always need to be fixed? Perhaps that is just it, everything, including us is continuously evolving. When we try to pinpoint it, and say what it is, we miss out on the nature of it - that it is ever evolving. I almost think that we live in a world, where to change is to suffer. But that's not the case, at least not for me. Yes, it certainly is harder, why? Well, because I was raised to believe that change is bad, and constant unchanging effects, daily occurrences, ideals or beliefs are what what keeps us / me comfortable. I guess that is true, because by not challenging my beliefs and ideas, I cannot evolve I cannot change into something better, something greater. Because I'm willing to say, "Wait, maybe I'm wrong, I could learn something from this new idea. Let me look into it, and see how it works for me." Maybe just maybe, we need to embrace change, we need to embrace evolving ideas, poke and prod them, apply them to our own lives and see how they affect us. And through this willingness to embrace, rather than repel and push away we may find we grow so much faster than we ever believed possible. I have certainly, shifted off the scientific aspect of the discussion and swerved wholly into a more philosophical road. But then, that is what I do enjoy exploring and reflecting on. Anyways, I may add to this post at a later date, when I have allowed the ideas to marinate longer. I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject, as continued discussion and debate is what Welcome to my first blog, not entirely sure what one does or writes about in a blog? Is it ones thoughts, ideas or just ramblings on random subjects? Or a combination of all of the above and then some? I wasn't sure so I looked it up, using the one resource everyone uses for their information, Google! I found a Wikipedia page that best described a blog, interestingly blog stands for a shortening of the two words web log - 'blog'. Yeah, I guess its not that interesting, anyways in summary a blog is - "Many blogs provide commentary on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries; others function more as online brand advertising of a particular individual or company. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important contribution to the popularity of many blogs." So in essence pretty much anything, which is something I intend to do, I would like to use this blog to write about my thoughts, ideas, comments, suggestions gripes, loves, hates - essentially whatever is on my mind at the time. While at the same time documenting my travels and adventures with my partner Tania. This I see lends me the opportunity to air my thoughts, while not getting too personal, allowing everyone a glimpse into my mind, while yet finally being true to myself and talking about and discussing my true passions and desires. Finally allowing myself to be true to myself, and talk on and discuss those ideas that interest me, some that I have been perhaps fearful of expressing because of others opinions on the matter. But shouldn't I be allowed to talk about and discuss any issue or subject that interests me? Freedom of speech and all that. Of course, so no more fear of others opinions or thoughts about what I'm passionate about. And this blogs affords me the opportunity to do so, read if you will and I hope you find it interesting enough to want to comment and discuss. As I have always said, I am an open minded skeptic I am willing to and open to listen to and hear out any idea or thought, but that doesn't mean I will simply accept it as my own truth. As I expect from anyone reading my own ideas and thoughts on certain issues. Lets talk, and read and learn more about ourselves and the world within which we live and get closer to a universal understanding that hopefully resonates as truth for us, and if your ideas are different to mine then great. It's our differences that make us awesome, and ensure we progress so lets embrace change and differences and grow together on this journey or self discovery. I hope you will join me on my journey, and perhaps we can learn something together. |
